Hi to all from the African Bush

Me and my wife are keen photographers, mainly wildlife and yes, Pentaxians. We are close to Kruger Park, what a pleasure. We've been browsing the website for long now and decided, this is the day we join. Equipment we are using: K10D, istDL. Lenses-Pentax: 2 x FA J 75-300mm F4.5-5.8, Pentax DA18-55 F3.5-5.6 AL, Pentax AF 28-80mm F3.5-4.5, Pentax A F4 200mm, Pentax M F3.5 15mm, Pentax A F3.5 35-105mm, Pentax A macro F4 100mm, Pentax M F1.8 55mm. Sigma: AF28-80mm F3.5-5.6 macro, AF100-300mm F4.5-6.7 UC. Cosina:100-500mm F5.6-8 MC macro. Vivitar:80-200mm F4.5 MC. Novoflex: Noflexar F5.6 400mm & F8 600mm - with Pistolgrip focusing and Bellows. Kenko: auto extension tubes 12mm-20mm-35mm, 2x macro teleplus MC7 converter. Flashes: Pentax AF360FGZ with Flash Extender, Pentax AF080C Ringflash for macro 100mm lens with TR Power Pack, Pentax AF280T, Pentax AF200T. Nissin 360 WX Digital. And in the camera cases, safe for the grandchildren to play with one of these days: 35mm SLR Pentax SFX-n , Pentax SuperA with powerwinder, Pentax MX with powerwinder. So, if you're visiting South Africa one of these days, give us a shout and who knows, maybe we'll see you in Kruger. Gerrie & Sarina.

Welcome to the site!

Wow that's one hell of a extensive Pentax collection. I'm interested in the Pentax ring flash you have. I don't think I've ever seen one from Pentax before. I know they don't have one now. Do you use it much?

Well it seems you're in the right place for some serious wildlife photos there in Kruger. I saw a short video of a lion attack on a water buffalo on YouTube that was taken from Kruger. Hope you post some shots here on the forums of some of our travels.

Welcome

Welcome to the forum! I wish I was close to Kruger. I spend some time there several years ago and am trying to justify going back. I'm looking forward to seeing some shots.

Welcome Gerrie and Sarina
This was truly in jest, and I sincerely apologize if any rudeness seemed implied or offense was taken. I was just jesting that with all that equipment, they belong here! I sometimes don't consider that others' culture may find things offensive that I do not. I would never purposely be rude to any of you. Once again, please accept my apology if offense was taken. Most of all, I am glad to see you two here where you belong!

Thanks everyone!!

Hi to all and thanks for the warm welcome (without the shots!), joking.. Sorry, was away for couple of days, business. It feels like we know you all for a long time, just haven't spoken for a while. Yes, we've been collecting equipment over the years and still enjoy doing that. Guess we'll have to look at more DG equipment at some stage, but, we just love shooting manual and that with a digital body, can you believe it.. Times are changing fast! We've just bought some more secondhand lenses, M f2 50mm, A f2.8 135mm, M f4 300mm, A f5.6 400mm, A 1.4x converter and a M 2x converter. For the ringflash, yes, i use it a lot, great flash. Fits onto the 100mm macro. Promise, this weekend i'm uploading some pics!!

Welcome to you both!

I look forward to living vicariously in South Africa through your images... I plan to visit there someday, and both Krueger and St. Lucia are on my "must-visit" list of places to see.

Cheers,
Marc

Hello there! I recently came back from a trip of a lifefime to Tanzania. Needless to say unlike most palces where I only visit once, I will have to find a way to go back there or somewhere else in Africa (perhaps someplace I can be sure to see Rhinos this time! ). Looking forward to your postings, I'm sure you have much to offer us lowly newbies to photography where you don't just point a credit card sized rectangle in a directing and click a button, as well as your images. I'm going to go look for the images you mention right now.
