Hello from upstate NY...

Just dropped in from the beautiful Hudson Valley in upstate, NY (Poughkeepsie, Dutchess area). Been a Pentaxian since NOV 2006. Feel at home enough to join a Pentax specific forum.

Thanks for the welcome... It is very a very nice area for Photographers!

Catskills to the left, Adirondacks up top, Berkshires to the right and NYC on the bottom.

For the cost of a short drive/train ride to NYC from any of the 3 Dutchess County Metro North stations and a one day unlimited ride metro card, one can visit practically all of the world. Can't beat that!!!

Poughkeepsie is very unique, the City is very accessible yet there's little downside to being so close (outrageous taxes, housing costs...).

We're also with weekend trip distance to Boston, Baltimore, DC, Providence, Philadelphia, Montreal, Ottawa... We get around the the Boston-DC corridor a LOT!

Ben, where are some of your favorite photo spots in Albany? Ever shoot in Thatcher Park?

and I'm new from Buffalo

So you've also got someone from WNY as well.

I've been using a K100D since last summer; it was my birthday present for myself and "sort of replaced" an aging Olympus C-3000 Zoom that I had for years.
