Hi there guys, new to this forum came across it researching pentax camera's.
I sold nikon d50 and lens and am loooking for a new camera to upgrade, i have a number of old pentax lens, 50mm f2, 28mm 2.8, 80-200 f4.5 all manual lenses and a more recent sigma 28-90 macro 3.5-5.6 and even a three times converter so decided to buy k20d body only until the time comes when i can afford some new lenses (i like primes)
or maybe if someone could educate me on which lens is weatherproof.
I look forward to posting some images on this forum and look forward to the coming monday when i pick up my new PENTAX K20D WOOOOHOOOOO
Hi, there are several Perthies on this forum, so welcome to the club.
Weatherprrof lenses: DA*16-50, DA*50-135 (and maybe one or two newer ones I haven't kept track of). These two zooms are quite expensive though, around US$650-750 each if bought in US, 1.5 times that if bought in Australia.
Welcome to the club.
Picked up a K20D recently after running a K100D for a long time.
Magnificent machine!
Isn't the winter weather here great. Blue skies and 20 degrees C.
Love making the North Americans here jealous.
Hmm...the link you posted is an online store. Is there any camera store in perth selling the k20D at good price? I have seen some shops around hay street area selling the k20D (body only) but the price is higher at $1350.

That's a good price for a bricks & mortar shop. If I could have got that price 4 months ago I would have bought locally. Being able to walk into the shop, actually handle the camera and be able to walk back with any problems is easily worth the extra $100.
I presume you mean Plaza cameras and Camera House. I have found Camera House staff very helpful and knowledgible.
Do you know any other shop in perth (other than camera house and plaza cameras) who also dealt with pentax? JB-HIFI also sell k20D but their price is way too high.

I bought my K20D from Camera Electronics and I paid $1300 but it was well worth the piece of mind of holding playing and since i have had the luxury of going back with my camera to put on new lens take pictures and look at the images on the computer at home for sharpness etc before i make my purchase, so after sales service was very important to me
Personally think Pentax will go mass market/volume sellers for their next model.
Try to break out of their niche-market label.
K20D is still an extraordinary good camera for the money.
