yay, this was my pick for the winning shot and thus one of my 3 votes. amazing detail and color in the feathers, deffinetley an eye catcher. congrats and a deserved win imo.
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the shot and voted. There were some great captures in the contest and it's quite an honor to be recognized.

For those of you who don't know, I'm a bit of a hummingbird fanatic and spend a good part of the summer months observing the Ruby-Throateds in our garden and local parks. This shot, by far, is my favorite-to-date, because the adult males are here only briefly and rarely do I see them perched. They are usually the first to arrive in the spring, when they stake out their mating grounds, and then the first to leave in the fall after a long summer of non-stop mating. I caught this guy in September as he was headed south for the winter. There was some interesting light coming through the trees behind him and I think it put a nice contrast on the shot.
I have learned so much from this forum since I joined last year, and this certainly caps off my experiences here so far!
