Shortly after this shot was taken, I acquired a K10D and sold the K100D. And shortly after that I realized I needed a second camera and could only afford to buy a used *ist DS. Live and learn.
The photo shows my dog Abby running in our back yard. Goal of the photo was to capture the sense of movement: when she runs, she flies. I took half a dozen photos trying different approaches to exposure. This shot is definitely my favorite of the group. I usually approach subjects in a more conventional way, but I'm happy with the impressionist effect achieved here by a slow shutter (1/25th sec, obviously with the camera panning while the shot was taken). F/5.6, ISO 800.
Post-processed very simply in Lightroom 3 beta. I boosted the exposure just a bit, used the tone curve to pull the shadows down (darken) very slightly, and boosted the saturation. I really like the colors here. The blue is, I think, our water meter. I'm not sure what the red is, but it's a nice touch, don't you think?
