No, they're not an object of ridicule. They are far too numerous and in too broad an array of styles and persona. This is just the far end of teenage fashion in Tokyo. Yesterday while looking for a mobile storage unit for saving files from my SD card, I came across no fewer than three teenage boys (in different places) where school-girl uniforms as part of their shtick.
