I really like this shot and I think it has the potential to be amazing with some adjustments. I like the composition with the water helping move us through the frame. I also think you did a good job capturing the cityscape. There are some big glares in the water that are distracting to me though, and there are a lot of spots, especially the bank of the river, that don't have any detail, they are just too black. Is this the case in the original picture as well, or just from playing with the conversion? I think if you could get some detail in the river banks this picture would come alive even more. Great job.

Never mind on not seeing any details, it was just the angle I was looking at the screen, there are some details there. I would still work on trying to get those areas to not be so dark. Also there is a lot of empty space at the top, you might be able to move things up so we get even more focus on the water. Again, this is a great shot.

I really like this shot a lot! The only thing that bothers me is the level of noise I can see in the larger sizes. Maybe running it through noise reduction software would help. I think using iso 100 with a longer exposure would have been better than the iso 400 that the exif indicates.

Thanks for the comments - Croping would help I think. I stuggled with how much brightening to do on the banks. In the original it is very dark. Also nice idea on the lower ISO and longer exposure - if I get a chance I might get out this week. I have been considering Noise Ninja - I have a full copy of PS2 but I am playing with PS3 will have to look to see if the plug-in is transferable.
