| Title |
Big Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge |
| Description |
One of only 15 covered bridges left in Georgia and one of only seven that is still open to traffic. This bridge was built in the 1840's by freed slave Horace King. While the piers and pilings are now concrete and metal, the covered portion and the approach are still wood and much of the bridge is still assembled with large wooden pegs. The covered section is not the longest but the entire structure with it's approaches is the longest wooden bridge remaining in the state. |
