CP+ 2013 in Photos

If this is all they have to show, i'm really disapointed. a new flash is not enough, although very welcome.

I still have hope:
I HOPE they are working on a new DSLR that will blow the doors off the competition.
I HOPE that producing cameras in lots of colors doesn't cost them much.
I HOPE that they are targeting young female consumers in order to raise overall profitability so that they can afford R&D on higher quality models.
I HOPE that someone at Pentax reads this forum every day and hears the voices of advanced hobbyists and professionals.

I'm a long way from bailing on Pentax. Every company makes bridge cameras of one flavor or another. They are not of interest to most of the readers of this forum, but average consumers seem to like them. If that's how camera companies get their bread buttered, then so be it. Having toyed around with plenty of P&S cameras over the years, I know that very few of them are impressive, so if Pentax can bring their quality and value to the game, then the world is a better place because of it. A decent underwater camera opens up a whole new world of photographic opportunities and thus in my book is a worthwhile addition to the stable. And let's not forget that the company has introduced 3 new DSLRs in the past 12 months - two second generation models and one brand new. So they haven't forgotten about us!

My most favorite photo, ever, was taken several years ago with a 1MP Kodak.
My K-5 an 01 have capabilities way beyond my expertise.
So I'm good for a long time to come.

I guess for many, it's the nature of having a hobby.
The fisherman always wants the latest rod, reel, or lure thinking they will catch more and bigger fish.

Now that we know nothing else new is coming, can we get some updates on the things they have said ARE coming? Specifically, when will the 560mm be available, give us details on the new flash, and what updates are there on the upcoming things on the roadmap, including a teleconverter?

I know everybody is entitled to their own opinion and I'm not here to insult anyone (which generally happens after comment 10! LoL) but, sadly, the direction our society is drifting makes me laugh! How many times did people upgrade their 35mm SLRs 20 years ago? How could we ever live without AF or WiFi? How on earth can I live with whatever new thing surely will come out next? Obviously, marketing works very well .... not with me luckily - and I'm not even 40!!

Anybody noticed that nobody complains about iPad 1,2,3,4 or MacBook 1, 2 or whatever. And they all do and look exactly the same!!!!
That is seen as cool and educated and people defend that company quite aggressively if bad words are spoken, as I've witnessed. And if it is just for get a better screen. But people buy it, as it's the latest thing to have. Doesn't improve their skills in IT, does it?! If people think their pictures are not good enough with a Pentax camera then perhaps they should just try a Canon or Nikon and see (if there is?) the difference (there is a market out there for people to choose from!! I can't see anyone buy vanilla ice cream if they didn't like it and then complain about the taste until they've eaten it all?????). And then buy a retina screen computer to complement the new found photographic skill ..... Give me a break - so I can take some more pictures. Actually, I stop writing and do that right now ...... Happy picture snapping weekend to the Pentax community! Out .....

I will be there tomorrow morning and have a look with my own eyes.
Hope images above are not all Pentax can offer in CP+ this year. I don't see a point of having a wall full of one product, Q10 just in difference body colors.

I look at the bright side; no new cameras and lenses, I won't be tempted to spend $$$. ;)

I'd like some real camera and lens news. Even the ces was better than this.

i think pentax aim same way like the other camera company like mirror less interchange able lens, pocket camera with sadistic feature and sensor,mini mirror less interchange able lens, and DSLR camera become like unwanted child to be born, because some of pocket camera can focus greater than DLSR camera, i think pentax should see S**Y product with SLT mirror, that great impact for DSLR camera in my comment

Agree with Jack... Pentax did used to make serious cameras.

Based on what was not an unusual observance at the show the competition just sits back and laughs at Pentax's expense. Just take a look at what Pentax has and has not done over the last year or two to see exactly where they are headed. It's going to get a lot worse before it has any chance (if any) of getting better.

Makes one wonder what is next - more rare lens that simply won't sell, or won't be reliable. More minor modification cameras that are marketed to only the semi-pro restriction - one that can be almost outdone by a Walmart camera.

Yeah, that's how silly you all sound.

These have appeal to the (huge) market with the most disposable income.
It helps keep the coffers full and exposes the PENTAX name to a generation of new photographers who may very well mature into PENTAX K-series buyers.
To all those who are whining, the answer for you is simple. Don't like it, don't buy it - move along now.

Pentax used to make serious cameras...

You can hear the same complaints from each manufacturer I have not seen any earth shattering announcements from any other manufacturer Cannon announced a bunch of P&S Nikon about the same. As for all the colors I guess they are catering to the audience which is a Japanese one that is impressed with such things. I am happy with my K-5 at the moment and am not really due an upgrade quite yet so even if they announced now I would not buy till the end of summer.I have noticed over the last few years Pentax does not always announce at the big shows they seem to just throw new cameras out at odd times.

What a joke. Pentax/Hoya demographic appears to be 13 to 16 year olds and those interested in fashion. Evidence? : the Q, toy lenses, peephole, rainbows of color...aren't they also responsible for that ridiculous leggo camera? I see their market share rapidly dropping to .005%. How hard can it be to to chuck a k5, GXR, and Fuji XPro1 in bag, shake vigorously and give me something to upgrade to. I will not lighten-up. Rant over. Over and out.

I think the new Pentax vision is to aim at teen girls segment. They favor the small and colorful products.

I don't really get all the negative comments here. At least something is happening after the take over. I am happy with my K-5 for now and can't see a reason to buy a new one or change manufacturer for the sake of having the latest model.
Would people immediately replace their cameras if a new one came out??? There must have been a reason why people bought that Pentax camera in the first place....???

people, lighten up. Photography is fun, not "serious" business.

Grab a camera and take some photos. Even of the girls if necessary.

It's really hard to take this company seriously any more . .

Does Ricoh really think that "Your choice of colors!" is the future of photography. How do I stay behind a brand that doesn't even seem to take itself seriously? Come on Ricoh, give us something to shout about.

The new WG's look pretty good, and the Eva Q10's are awesome!
