First DSLR

First DSLR

The biggest impact in my photography was definitely my first DSLR. A Pentax K-x, I got for Christmas. It made me really think about how I was getting a photograph, more than just snapping the picture and hoping for the best. I got my Pentax K-x as a Christmas gift 2 years ago. I was given a range of what I could spend, I looked for the features I wanted within the price point and about a week or so later, I got my Pentax K-x. When I first got it, it was a little intimidating. There was, and still is, a lot to learn. I had to get over the fear of breaking it, also.

Before that, I only had point-and-shoot cameras. I still use my point-and-shoot cameras, but really love my DSLR. I have gotten some great pictures with my DSLR, that I never could've gotten with my point-and-shoots.  I have more options on how to get the picture I really want. I just have to know how to get the picture I want..... But there are a lot of times when the DSLR would be just too inconvenient and bulky.

One of my favorite pictures I have taken with my Pentax K-x is of my niece, Seybrooke. My brother's kids like to be photographed and I am happy to oblige. It is as fun for them, as it is for me. Kids, sometimes, do the funniest things and it is a joy for me to capture some of the fun for us to remember always. As I get more comfortable with the weight and actually using my DSLR, my photography improved dramatically and continues to improve. It makes me very happy to take great photos and share them with my friends and family. I look forward to making and capturing many, many more memories.
