I am waiting for Adam's review and few samples from those who bought. After the review I am going to buy it.

Macroguy [Delete] Feb 8th, 2013 9:36AM

Little overpriced for what it is in my opinion. Did not see any feedback on the lens yet and do not want to bash it but Nikons 500/4 AFS VR is only about $1000 more than this lens localy, for comparison, and just going by specs it seems miles ahead of Pentax's 560.
Personally I picked up Tamron Adaptal SP 400/4 for under $700 couple years ago and love it . With 1.4x teleconverter gives me about the same as the HD560/5.6.

Infrabasse [Delete] Feb 7th, 2013 11:02PM

Don't forget this 560 is 840mm equivalent on Pentax APS-C

ChopperCharles [Delete] Feb 7th, 2013 3:58PM

Yeah, and with the Q I have a 560mm f3.5 when my 100mm f3.5 macro is attached. And I can HAND HOLD that and still get great photos.

Zorglub [Delete] Feb 7th, 2013 12:50AM

If you want to try zooming with your car instead of your feet before spending 7000$, go get a Q and mount a 100mm lens on it. I have and it's lots of fun.

ChopperCharles [Delete] Feb 6th, 2013 5:45PM

Oh, there is no doubt that there are drawbacks to a mirror lens. But lets face it, $70 bucks vs $7000 is a big, big step for your average consumer. I do this is a hobby, it doesn't make me a dime. I'll either live with the reach of my 55-300mm or use my 500mm mirror. Or pony up for a Sigma 150-500, which is actually pretty damn reasonable at just over a grand.

apathey2131978 [Delete] Feb 6th, 2013 12:38PM

I agree with the Flash all the way. I already have a af-540fgz though. But still.... a new flash is ALWAYS welcomed in my book. :) Still ill stay open minded and can't wait to see what this thing can do.

traderdrew [Delete] Feb 6th, 2013 12:20PM

"""It's only one stop faster than a 55B mirror. And approx 100 times the cost. No thanks, Pentax. No thanks at all."""

Around here in Florida, I have seen hundreds of 500, 600mm and a few 800mm primes and only one mirror lens. If mirrors are a better deal then I guess all these people with some money are cheating themselves.

SpartanD63 [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 11:31PM

@baldeagle21b I actually quite like the doughnut bokeh of mirror lenses...

k2112S [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 10:04PM

Here Here to the idea of some macro tubes. A grip I could take or leave. I am glad to see they finally brought out a flash head that swivels as well as tilts. I would love to see the ability to adjust each flash output in a multiple wireless flash set-up

apathey2131978 [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 8:50PM

I applaud Pentax for taking the time to release this lens whether i can afford it or not. I think it shows Pentax drive to continue to move forward and cater to its user base. On the other hand I think that they have missed the mark on Price with this lens and the countless other things Pentax users want. Let me start by saying I seen a great post on here stating things such as updated macro tubes and off camera flash grips, etc... Ill add that Pentax USED to be the complete system. Look at any book from the film days and you will know what I am referring to. I would like to see 1-Macro Tubes with updated electronics. 2-Off camera flash grip (with power pack built in) 3-Twin head Macro flash set up (like Nikon own SB-R200 macro flash and the SU-800 controller) wireless of course. 4-How about a 180mm or remake of Pentax own 200mm Macro as was already said in this post. 5-1.4 Converter that was said to come out already but still waiting on. The list goes on. My point being that a lot of other things that may appeal to a wider base that a $7000.00 tele lens may make the company more money and bring in other users and keep others.
I use my K5 for most of my casual work and people problems as I call them BUT I had to get A Nikon Set up to fill my other work load as my old ist-d with ttl flash options was just not fitting the bill anymore :( I am still sticking by and supporting Pentax as I suppose I always will. My wallet can not keep up and something has to give. In the end it will be one system for me. I hope its Pentax but that hope fades every day.....

k2112S [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 7:09PM

Think I'll wait till I can get one cheap on ebay.....in about 30 years

baldeagle21b [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 6:02PM

>It's only one stop faster than a 55B mirror. And approx 100 times the cost. No thanks, >Pentax. No thanks at all.

Enjoy your doughnut bokeh with you cheap mirror lens.

Adam [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 4:53PM

That pre-order may have been the review copy. It was marked as shipped this morning ;)

ChopperCharles [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 4:47PM

It's only one stop faster than a 55B mirror. And approx 100 times the cost. No thanks, Pentax. No thanks at all.

Tanzer [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 4:26PM

People actually pre-ordered this, meaning someone was willing to pay full list price. Thank you, early adopters. :-p

LaurenOE [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 4:11PM

If all goes well..next year!!!!

LFLee [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 3:55PM

oh come on B&H! $49.70 shipping kill the deal.

bobell69 [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 3:18PM

While I can't afford a lens like this, I am very interested in how it performs. Lots of opportunities out my way for wildlife photography and you need a long lens in order to grab some of the best shots.

david94903 [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 3:01PM

Nice but not very useful for most of us. How about putting the FA 200mm macro back into production. I'd bet that'd actually sell. And it's a proven lense that will work the FF cameras.

slackerlee [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 2:45PM

It's okay, I'm waiting for the f2.8 version.

robtcorl [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 2:02PM

Just checked, says it's in stock.
My cart stayed empty, can't afford it.

Dr_who [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 1:57PM

Cabstar they didn't expect more then 1 to spend that kinda $ lol

zmohie [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 1:10PM

Hello pentax If you can make an expensive lens such this aims at a few users.. please tell me why you still hesitated about making a ff aims at larger market.

pericombobulation [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 12:55PM

Oh man oh man how I want that!

cabstar [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 12:47PM

Out of stock? Did they only get one in???

digital029art [Delete] Feb 5th, 2013 12:32PM

I will sell my old car, buy this lens with a nice backpack .. Another one rides the bus!
