I also received my K-01 yesterday, and was disappointed by the somewhat large size. At the same time, the images are very nice, and the body is better looking than a typical DSLR. At this price, I think the K-01 has a place as a second camera for specific "casual" situations where a DSLR is overkill. And the video feature is very easy to use.

Received my K-01 yesterday. I'm not so sure. It's a lot of camera for the money, but I don't know if I'm ever going to use it. It's far too big to be pocketable, even with the (very weird) 40mm pancake and if I'm going to have a big camera around my neck, I may as well have a viewfinder. I'm going to spend a little more time with it, but I think my cold feet might win out on this one.

If the K-01 had weather seals, I'd definitely grab one at these prices.
Maybe they are clearing them out for a weather-sealed model...

Riv [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 2:37PM

Q price dropped at the wrong store, B&H is at $579 still. Need it to drop there for a credit, but... maybe Sandy has them closed. Hopefully they made it through the storm ok. Man that thing made a mess =(

cyclone3d [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 2:04PM

I have been wanting to get a K-01 since it came out. At this price, I am most likely going to order one tonight.

shiner [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 12:22PM

I always thought the K-01 was kind of neat (although quirky), and would make a super nice video or macro/tripod camera, but never quite wanted to part with the $$$. Until now, that is! Just ordered a kit with the 40mm. Psyched!!!

howieb101 [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 4:58AM

For the Ozzies here I have bitten the bullet and used an on shipping service at ComGateway I'll tell you how it goes.

tohax [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 4:26AM

price drops always happens in US only. never in my country. so sad..

Florian [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 2:50AM

I will by Pentax K-01 Body as my supplement.

Ben E [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 12:40AM

I hope this means new products soon!

The K-01 is tempting but I'm saving up for the K-5 IIs...

sledger [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 12:34AM

Well, seeing as Mark Newson is an Aussie, we should get the new low price for the K-01 before the rest of the world. Where's the justice!? :-/

howieb101 [Delete] Nov 2nd, 2012 12:15AM

I tried Adorama but only allowed to ship within USA. Sad (from Australia).

solar1 [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 10:19PM

Pentax K-01

w/18-55mm and 50-200mm

$599.95 $699.95 $200 - Thats a $100 difference, not $200.

sledger [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 10:07PM

I can't find anyone in Australia who can yet confirm these price drops. Or does that mean that Australians are still paying more than the rest of the world for the same goods?
No wonder many buy grey imports.

rolis10 [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 9:37PM

New products on the horizon!

WillWeaverRVA [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 9:09PM

I was thinking about getting a K-5 IIs, but given that it's not an overwhelming improvement over the original K-5, I then thought about getting a K-30. I think this price drop has helped me make that decision...

DSims [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 9:02PM

Look at that! Pentax' best video camera for only $350! This makes it quite worthwhile as a supplement to whatever DSLR you have.

No doubt the K-01 is going away. Pentax officials have already stated that they're abandoning the K-01 "line" - there will be no successor. I forget exactly who said it, but it was around the same time as Photokina.

jtb04a [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 8:47PM

I wonder if this marks the end of the K-01, or a new model coming out closer to the specs of the Olympus OMD-EM5. I hope it means the later. I would love a Pentax like the OMD.

jtb04a [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 8:46PM

Don't forget, the K-01 has the same sensor as the K5!!! Thats a CRAZY price for this camera. WOW! What a steal. I have 2 K5s or else I would totally be hoping on this.

cWj [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 8:23PM

Fie upon K-30 not being battery grippable. Fie 'pon't indeed.

May suck it up and get one anyway. My K10D is starting to shed parts.

sb in ak [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 8:18PM

Not a bad price at all for the K-01...guess it must not be selling well.

Quazimoto [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 5:42PM

Ummm... did anyone else notice: "K-01 with 40mm lens - New Price: $450 - Old Price $750 - change: $200." I am quite tired but I still think $750 - $450 = $300.

John279 [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 4:21PM

Once again, B&H exceeds with its wonderful customer service!! I purchased a K-30 and 18-135mm kit yesterday. Today, I alerted them to the Pentax price drop as posted above and they immediately credited me with the $50.00 difference!! With free shipping and great service, who could possibly want to shop elsewhere?

nomadkng [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 4:10PM

i cant wait for the price drop on the K2iis

RonHendriks1966 [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 1:15PM

Well I think that smart people rush to get a yellow brick!

Compur [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 12:39PM

If this is the end of K-01 it almost becomes a quirky collectors item. SO TEMPTING.

kenafein [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 10:50AM

Looks like they're calling the K-01 a mistake, makes it very tempting however.

seventysixersfan [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 10:49AM

$350 for K-01 is VERY tempting! This was $750 just 9 months ago!! A $400 price drop in so little time, WOW! It's almost an impulse buy.

mrNewt [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 10:43AM

Pentax K-01 Body ... $349.95 ... tempting ... :|.
I have the lens already.

macdaddy50 [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 10:35AM

I'm assuming there is a misprint on the K-30 and it s/b a new price of $749. If so, now the price is getting down to very competitive market pricing vs the Canikons. This could be huge for their sales. Makes Christmas look a little better!!!! Who knows what may still be coming. Upon second look, I must have had a spec on my glasses. Price is still good though as compared to the Canikon boys. Good to see them get aggressive with it.

krebsy97 [Delete] Nov 1st, 2012 10:22AM

Looks like the K-01 is on its way out. That is an AMAZING cam for $350. We love ours even with its quirks.
