Pentax has just published the latest version of the Pentax Digital Camera Utility software on their web site. Version 4.4 adds support for the latest cameras and lenses, namely:
- Pentax K-5II and K-5IIs
- SMC PENTAX-DA 50mm F1.8
- SMC PENTAX-DA 18-270mm F3.5-6.3ED SDM
- HD PENTAX-DA 560mm F5.6 ED AW DC
- HD PENTAX-D FA645 MACRO 90mm F2.8ED AW SR
This latest version will let you open .PEF files taken with the Pentax K-5 II and IIs.

Unfortunately Pentax continues to forget their former (and future) client ... us!
When the company will concientizar that an owner of a machine pentax buy a product thinking of using it for many years? (I still use my K1000 and my SFX - municiadas the movie).
I have a K20, with 4 years of use and was relegated to the underworld of forgetfulness regarding the updates softwere (Tantoo firmware of the camera, as the applications side).
The pentax believe that cre aindo use the Windows XP operating system (Contemporary launch of K20).
A pity.
Always was and am (maybe no more in the near future) a fan of Pentax, but I'm looking with different eyes for other brands, as well as the equipment, the user of this treatment is also part of the product.

Oh, and it will read the exif data from jpegs after you extract them from the DNGs with the Pentax software.. so yeah, the DNG support is kinda broken.
So it does show up the exif data for jpegs, but not for DNGs on pictures taken with the K-01. How in the world can it not read the exif data from the DNGs?
I just tried this software again out of curiousity and wish I hadn't. Some people may get the hang of it but the software interface is simply awful. It's free because you couldn't charge for it!
Grrr, I really like the Pentax utility way better than the junk software that comes with the K-01. Even tried out a trial of the newest version and it is still horrible.
The new version still does not recognise the K-01 photographs (JPEG). A pity....
Can anybody confirm that this new version can read Exif data from DNG pics taken with the K-01?
No update for the K5?
