Alongside last week's Pentax Q firmware update, Pentax also released a small update for the K-30. K-30 firmware version 1.01, officially launched on October 25th, includes stability improvements (bug fixes) as well as improvements to its contrast-detect (live view) autofocus.
It seems that Pentax is deploying its new contrast detect autofocus algorithms on all cameras newer than the K-5, which is great to see. A similar update was released for the Pentax K-01 on October 11th.
Click here to download the firmware, and read on for installation instructions.

Pentax making news with another firmware update! On the bright side, it's cheaper than having to buy an exciting new lens.
The clock is ticking. In the last calendar year, Pentax has announced the K30 and K5 upgrades. Nikon...D800 and D600. Canon...ok...you get the point. I'll stop.
@curlednoodles
I thought the same too, but given the Q (what powers it? a Prime M?) got the focus peaking update backported to it, makes me think the Prime II *might* just be powerful enough to support FP too.
unless it's really "incompatible" code-wise...
a shame Pentax does not do the same for the K5 = due to number of owners ! no ?
Icy, that's impossible, if the lens don't have aperture contacts.
That would be possible with an uncrippled mount
I am looking forward to new firmware of Kr that allows me to change aperture information for MF lens ;)
Alizarine, you wont get focus peaking on the K5 or K5II/s as the processor does not support it. You need a K-30 or K-01 for focus peaking.
Sounds good. Can't wait (but will have to) till the price comes down a bit further so I can order one!
Ah, I hope a firmware update can also come for the K-5 II/IIs to include at least focus peaking and a little CDAF improvement too.. it is, well, newer than the K-5c after all :)
