Today, we've observed a $50 price drop on the Pentax K-30 at authorized Pentax retailers, including B&H photo in New York and Amazon.com. Although not all big Pentax outlets seem to be showing the new price at this point, it wouldn't surprise us if the Pentax K-30 body price started falling to $799 nationwide over the course of the coming days. The camera's original MSRP was $849.
Most Pentax K-30 kits have also fallen in price, with the unfortunate exception of the 18-135mm and 55-300mm kits.
This appears to be the first official price reduction of its kind for the K-30 in the US. Users in our Pentax Price Watch forum have spotted better international deals (i.e. one from the Pentax Web Store in Singapore), though as with all international purchases, these may be subject to customs fees, higher shipping costs, or warranty restrictions, all of which can quickly close the gap in price.
Even at the original MSRP, we believe the K-30 was fairly priced for its class, but we hope that this and future price drops will also make the camera an attractive intro-level option!

$719 for black body-only at Amazon right now! The price is dropping so fast!
Hopefully I can afford a new DSLR soon! Looking to upgrade.
My guess is now that the K-30 is the only Pentax DSLR in production, they are trying to maintain profitability by goosing sales volume with a price drop. And who am I to complain? It will be interesting to see what they announce at Photokina. I just can't believe this situation with the K-30 being the ONLY Pentax DSLR in production will last very long at all.
I hope this drop is standardized WORLDWIDE
I think it's a good thing, hopefully it makes room for 2 models above the k-30
@twitch: is that a bad thing? Sure leaves room for greater dslrs doesn't it?
@Adam
So, there's a MAP?
MAP is only valid in the US anyway, here in EU it's prohibited to force dealers with a specific pricing, anyone seen this price change coming in the EU too?
Looks like only the black model has dropped due to street prices on Amazon. BH has the body only in all colors back up to almost 850 again.
I think that the new Pentax pricing policy dictates that any price drop at an authorized retailer has to be an official drop.
Question is if it's an official price drop, or just "street price" starting to stabilize... ?
It's looking even less likely now that there will be a DSLR model below this model.
