Pentax has been circulating demo K-30 units this week, and several sites yesterday made blog posts containing some sample photos from the new Pentax K-30. Use the links below to discuss and view these samples.
With the launch of the K-30 just around the corner, you can also expect an in-depth review of the Pentax K-30 to appear on our homepage in the coming weeks! Until then, you can discuss the K-30 on the forum, read our preview, or visit its entry in our camera database.
In addition, the Pentax K-30 manual can now be downloaded!

Hi,
Has anyone tried the infrared filter on the new K-30.... Any pics to show us ? Does it look good ?
Thanks
Pentax have lost their mojo. As I said in a previous post, they are acting like a company in panic; frequent decision changes, no marketing plan, as a matter of fact - no marketing that I can see..... . The decision to fork out a few hundred or thousand bucks and buy camera equipment is based implicitly on a basic trust in the equipment manufacturer - in this case Pentax. That trust has eroded seriously. I'm one of the many die-hard Pentax fans who come together on this forum and I'm posting this here, not in order to air any grievances or start an argument, but in the sincere hope that someone at Pentax reads what people are saying. There seems to be no other way to get our message across.
what the heck? this is the ultimate/most complete and helpful forum for all camera brands out there and Pentax isn't even considering/acknowledging PF as the biggest support (marketing and all) to all of Pentax brands? are they nuts or what? HockeyDad is rigth most most us here i think based their decisions in buying anything Pentax related because of PF... wake Up you guys in the headquarters... (this was my first impressions after hearing about this issue until just a few minutes ago)
but then what if Pentax only wanted a 3rd party to rate/grade/try the k30 so as not to give a notion to possible buyers about any bias ratings?
maybe, maybe not... but Pentax should have at least gave a simple call to PF right? bad move it is and i understand the very sentiment of Adam... felt betrayed as well by our belover Brand.
Peace to all
i think giving these 4 sites a preview/hand-on experience is a very smart move of Pentax cause the audience of these sites are the target customers of K-30.
And adam, I'm not trying to be crass, I like what you do here. Its possible their pr dept is really that awful. I mean here is the largest group of rabid pentax fans on the web. I find it really hard to believe they don't look at this site. I don't know what's going on with pentax usa, but its almost like they take orders from japan and are incapable of acting on their own. Pentax does pretty well in japan. Not so much outside of asia. That's kind of a problem. Look at ned bunnels site. Not even a mention of the k30...which the press is heralding as pretty strong competition the the t4i. In fact its superior in many ways at about the same price point. Ned bunnel says nothing. I mean there's so much wrong with this picture. Even if they are pissed, they should be sending pentax forums one first. This site offers so much to the pentaxians. Without it, many of us would be completely lone wolves. I know 3 pentax shooters in my city of 2 million in the metro area. If pentax wants to compete they need to start listening to their lifelong customers more. Some of us have been shooting pentax for over 30...40 years. Loyalty like that is something that is rather foolish to throw away.
It says a lot when gizmodo gets a demo unit and pf does not....
@adam: maybe they are pissed about your april fools fiasco still :p
Ditto what jackassp said. Perhaps the largest online gathering of dedicated Pentax users isn't the target demographic for the K-30... or they figure everyone here already pre-ordered one so the demo units would be more valuable marketing tools elsewhere. The PF review and subsequent real-world hands-on opinions from PF members are what convinced me I needed a K-r so I'm waiting for that same input before committing to the expense. (Even though I swear they probed my brain and built me the perfect DSLR) Until PF reviews it, it's just bullet points on a feature list and amateur snapshots on the web.
This is the second time we seem to have been screwed over by Pentax- not a peep from them after some initial conversations. Their new PR isn't any better than the old.
I'm very disappointed, I thought for sure that PentaxForums would get one of the first units for an in depth review.
in that video they said pentax suggested a DA* lens to make it faucet-proof... are the seals on the DA* different than n the WR's? do i need to drop another 1600 to make a camera faucetproof-er than with a 100macroWR?
Great! Now we have the manual before the actual unit arrives! haha :D
Especially @ this price. Still waiting to see what the k-r replacement brings to the table and at what cost. I sure hope they aren't placing the k-01 into that slot. At least the news from pentax land isn't all bad.
I gotta say that after reading the reviews, it looks like Pentax has created a camera to be reckoned with. Provided there are enough people who aren't sheep, Canikon could have their hands full with the K-30.
