Pentax Japan announced yesterday that they would be making a limited edition Q10 based on the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" Japanese media franchise. We gather that this Q10 will be featured in an upcoming Evangelion movie.
The camera itself is quite colorful (it comes in three different color schemes) and includes a "NERV" logo on the top. The a startup screen containing this logo has also been added.

1,500 examples of each version of this camera will be produced, and it will only be available in Japan. It will be on exhibit at the upcoming CP+ photo show. Read on for some larger photos!

The Pentax Q system is the world's smallest mirrorless interchangeable lens camera system. The Pentax Q10 features a 12-megapixel 1/2.3" sensor, full-HD video support, and most importantly, just about any interchangeable lens (using the appropriate adapter)! Read more about the Q10 here. Pentax USA recently announced that in addition to being available in the standard red and silver kits, special orders will be taken for any of 100 body color combinations.

I Hope so much K5 could get in these colors!
yeah! 1500 colored toy cams produced!! what a waste of resources.
these are great i want one
I
These are really cool looking ! :)
OMG!
Wow. These are delightfully insane. Once upon a time, I would have been first in line, money in fist.
If you read / watched Neon Genesis you would understand just how fun this is :P
I'd consider anyone who buys a non-black camera (exception: metal parts that are actual metal) insane anyway. If they're making profits off those insane people, they can put their design-department on a steady shroom-diet for all I care (as long as they keep them away from the DSLRs).
Okay, how about now they make a classical design? One without kitsch colours. Make it look like metal and leather.
fugly!
sh1t I'm nearly going to buy a Q10 just for the nerdy nerd nerd factor now hahah
wantz!
A bit too colourful in my opinion. But a sad thing it won't be released in the EU. Would've loved to have one myself.
"God's in his heaven, all's right with the world" -ha! Yeah, right! C'mon, Pentax, get a grip.
Ah man! shutupandtakemymney!
The fonts get me too! KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!
They even used the series' fonts for accents. Cool :D
So, 1500 EACH model or 1500 for all (meaning 500 each)? and is it really $1000 a piece? O_O
I love the Evangelion series, and Pentax nailed the gigantic robots' colors. I'd happily buy all three of these if I could afford them. If memory serves, the third of four new films was released in Japan in the Fall. That being said, a film tie-in wouldn't happen for at least a year unless the camera cameo already happened with the release that's already come and gone. The Eva-themed Q10 new I read elsewhere didn't mention a movie appearance, so I'll believe it when I see it!
