Pentax K-500 Review
Image Quality
The Pentax K-500 uses the same sensor, image processor, and internal hardware as the K-50, and thus these two cameras deliver identical image quality. Therefore, for more details on the K-500's picture quality, please read the image quality page in our K-50 review.
In a nutshell, the K-500 is capable of producing vibrant photos with low noise and a wide dynamic range, as it uses one of the best APS-C sensors on the market as of 2013. The only comparable DSLRs that can outperform it on a technical level include the Pentax K-5 (thanks to 14-bit RAW support) and the Nikon D3200/5200/7100 (thanks to a new low-noise 24-megapixel sensor).
