Pentax K-70 Review

What's in the Box & Warranty

The accessories included with the Pentax K-70 are typical for a DSLR. In the box, you will find the following:

  • K-70 camera body
  • Push-on body mount cap, mounted on camera
  • Rechargeable battery (D-LI109)
  • Battery charger (D-BC109)
  • AC power cord, type varies by region
  • Hotshoe cover, mounted on camera (FK)
  • Eyecup, mounted on camera (FR)
  • Software CD / Pentax Digital Camera Utility (S-SW168)
  • Neck strap (O-ST132)
  • Quick start guide
  • Camera serial number card
  • Warranty paperwork and informational pamphlets

Note that unlike previous Pentax mid-range cameras, the K-70 does not come with a USB cord. You will therefore need to make sure to have your own USB cord (type mini C) or an SDHC/SDXC card reader to transfer files to your PC, since the WiFi feature only works with smartphones and tablets.

Rather than a full printed manual, the K-70 includes an abridged quick start guide. The quick start guide covers most common camera functions and is enough to get the ball rolling, but it does not cover advanced menu options. The full manual is available as a PDF from the Ricoh Imaging website in your region (click here to download the English manual).

If you purchased the 18-135mm lens kit, you will also receive:

  • SMC Pentax-DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] DC WR lens
  • Lens-specific operating manual
  • Front and rear lens caps
  • Lens serial number card

Warranty

Ricoh Imaging's warranty coverage depends on the country in which you purchase the K-70.  International warranties are no longer offered in any region due to legal and practical complications.

  • In the US, the standard warranty is good for one year. Two additional years can be purchased for $50.00* within 30 days of your camera body purchase.
  • In Canada and Europe, two years of coverage are included.
  • In Australia, the warranty is good for one year.

*this extended warranty is valid even if you originally purchased the K-70 from a different US authorized dealer. The only requirement is that you keep your receipts, and that the warranty card is purchased within 30 days of the camera body. No registration is necessary.  If you meet all these requirements, then click here to order you extended warranty. It is not an issue if you take delivery of the warranty card outside of the 30-day window, as long as it the order was received and processed within that window.

Please check with your local Ricoh Imaging dealer or representative for warranty information in other areas. Note that warranty service will only be honored for cameras purchased from authorized Pentax dealers.
