Samyang 16mm F2 ED AS UMC CS

Distortions

The 16mm displays a subtle hint of distortion that is easily corrected in post-processing. Below is a photo of peg-board direct from camera and one that has been corrected.

Distortion Correction

This correction required a Photoshop adjustment of +7. In a more natural setting, the adjustment is in fact of questionable benefit to the scene:

Verdict

The moderate barrel distortion displayed by the Samyang 16mm F2.0 is not incredibly distracting, nor is it a complete necessity to correct in post-processing. However, it is noticeable, especially when known straight lines, such as the edge of buildings, are put near the edge of the frame. It would be nice to have a lens correction profile accompany with the lens, but a simple adjustment in Adobe Camera Raw fixes any distortion without a significant loss in image quality. The upside of having a lens with easy to correct barrel distortion is that it is very easy to enable correction when you need it, and to use the distortion to your advantage when you want to.
