Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 Contemporary

What's in the Box

In late 2012, Sigma decided to reorganize their lens lineup, classifying all future lenses as either "Contemporary", "Art", or "Sports".  Together with this move, they redesigned and simplified the appearance of their lenses as well as their packaging.  The 17-70mm's box looks elegant and has no-nonsense labeling that gets straight to the point:

Sigma 17-70mm C Box
As a "Contemporary" lens, the 17-70mm is part of Sigma's more affordable consumer lineup.  Therefore, it only comes with a minimal set of accessories.

In the box, you will find:

  • The 17-70mm lens itself
  • Front & rear caps
  • A dedicated petal-shaped hood
  • Manual
  • Warranty card

From the factory, the lens comes wrapped in a plastic bag. The hood is wrapped separately, reversed, and placed on top of the lens.  A cardboard mold supports the lens with the hood, and all the paperwork rests beside/underneath it.

A dedicated case is not supplied with this lens, so you must purchase one separately if desired.
