Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM "Art"

Specifications

Being one of their newest lenses and a member of the Global Vision lineup, the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM "Art" lens features many of Sigma's quality lens features and technologies. For those unable to decipher the alphabet soup above in that name, we've identified what it all means below:

F
"F-Stop," signifying the widest (fastest) aperture of this lens. Despite being a zoom lens, the lack of multiple numbers (thus a range) in the aperture signify a constant aperture throughout the zoom range.
DC

"Digital Crop,"  signifying that this lens is for APS-C cameras (a "crop" of the full frame sensor due to being slightly smaller in physical size).

HSM

"Hyper Sonic Motor," which indicates the inclusion of Sigma's latest autofocusing technology for its lenses - an in-lens focus motor that promises fast and silent autofocus.

*Discussed more in detail on the Autofocus page of this review.

Art
Part of Sigma's Global Vision of lenses, the "Art" category is one of three, along with "Contemporary" and "Sport."

As the Sigma 18-35 is not a Pentax series lens, modern Pentax DSLRs will not support in-camera distortion and aberration corrections in JPEG mode with this lens.
