Pros: | Metal build, optical quality, tested durability (most of 20 years) | Cons: | Manual focus (for "lazy" people), need for hood like all lenses | | This version of lens is capable of acceptable sharp at F2.8,good sharp between F4 to F5.6 ( consider D.O.F.) and very sharp from F8.
It is susceptible to flare if no hood and the worst case is no hood but with protector filter with ghost multiple flares in "contrejour".
It is a good lens offering also close up possibility and a medium detaching of subject from the background at F2.8.
On K20 (Samy GX20) the exposure can be in Manual mode with the green button pre-touching for the exposure measure or, if using only F2.8 or F4, you can use Aperture-priority mode with an over-exposure of 1 stop, respective 2 stops. In this case, the exposure must be verified (because low or no possibility of correction).
With the leisure of manual focusing this is a prime lens, better than the 18-55 zoom at the same focal length (more luminous and a more diffuse background). | |

Pros: | sharp, nice colors, low price, light weight, good macro functionality, K-A mount | Cons: | a bit soft wide open, overexposes from f/2.8 - f/8 on K100D | | I purchased this lens when I was searching for a low cost MF 28mm K-A mount lens.
For this price it is a wonderful lens. Very sharp stopped down a stop or two, with almost none distortion or CA.
The drawback is, it overexposes half a stop from f/2.8 to f/8 on my K100D, but with exposure compensations this is not a big deal.
With 28mm this lens is a normal lens on a crop sensor and has a really nice FOV.
