Pros: | Does what it says at a sensible price | Cons: | None for me | | I needed to be able to mount a K1 with grip, in portrait format on a Really Right Stuff ball head while attached to a Platypod. https://www.pentaxforums.com/accessoryreviews/really-right-stuff-bh-55-pro-w...-ii-clamp.html https://www.pentaxforums.com/accessoryreviews/platypod-max.html
I was unable to source a custom L Bracket for the K1 with grip, so a universal bracket was my only way to go at this time, this product is both well made and meets my needs.
The QR11-FBG Quick Release Plate has a Base Length of 120mm / 4.75" with two additional retaining bolts (2.5mm hex), to stop it sliding out of the quick release, should you forget to tighten down. The Upright Height is 126mm / 4.96" and has cable access and 1/4"-20 accessory mount, the Shoe is 38mm / 1.5 " Standard Arca-Swiss, weight 0.12kg / 0.26lbs.
This is a universal bracket and therefore access on the left hand side battery compartment on the grip and also the flap (DC IN, HDMI, USB) is blocked. For me this is not problem as I run twin batteries and if I need to change, I just slacken the mounting screw and slide it round to clear. I guess you could mount it the other way i.e. on the right hand side, but then you would block access to the memory cards.
It's a two piece L Bracket, so you could take it apart for easy stowage and comes with a pouch, strap attachment lugs are provided, but I'm already using the lugs on the camera top and grip.
Here's what's in the box, and it comes fully assembled and is beautifully packed: 1 x QR11-FBG Quick Release L Bracket, Stagsden Stainless Steel camera screw, Retaining bolts (2.5mm hex) for horizontal axis security, Multi Tool, hex key, coin key, key ring, carabiner and bottle opener.
It comes in two colours a METALLIC SLATE (GREY) which has a slight Green tinge to it and EQUINOX COPPER (ORANGE)
