Pros: Does the job and works fine
Cons: AF lenses don't fit

Picked these up on eBay for £15 including p&p. I've only tried two lenses with it. The kit 18-55 won't fit and I'm not going to try to force it. The SMC-A 50/1.7 works fine. Despite the limited functionality I'm giving it 10 because it enables me to do what I want for fifteen quid.

Pros: Quality feel, snug fit, well made
Cons: 7th Contact issue = no aperture reading (K10 et al); only available s/h and prices can get silly...

Extension tubes for pentax are thin on the ground. This is one of the main possibilities for PKA connection. I am pleased with this purchase - well made, all metal, good fit. But I was mystified as to why I couldn't get aperture reading on my Samsung GX20 (=K20D) until I read the reviews here. Initially I tried using a bit of foil to create a connection between the flange and the mount, however this had no effect. So I moved on to scraping the anodising off where the 7th data contact is and that had the desired result - immediately started registering the f number on the display. So clearly that is the necessary fix.

Interestingly however there was no problem on my K-r: registered F numbers without modification. I suspect that its primarily the K10D and K20D that need the fix.
These are also sold under the Aico name.

PS I also encountered this issue with an older vivitar 2x TC that had a similarly black painted flange.

Pros:
Cons:

Yup, the body of the lens completes the circuit for the aperture information. So you need to scrape of the andodising on the tubes to allow eleectrical continuity between lens bayd and camea body. It doesn't have to be where the the contact is. There isn't a 7th contact if you're using more than one tube at once

Pros: Price compared with dedicated macro lens
Cons: build quality

As an amateur wanting to try out macro photography without the expense of a macro lens, these were an excellent purchase. I use a k1000 so the lack of AF is no problem, and the only other lacking characteristic (like all extension tubes) is that when attached to a lens it loses the ability to focus on infinity (unlike a true macro lens).

The mount is not manufactured to as high a standard as I would like, and sometimes goes into the mount incorrectly and has to be detached and attached again. It doesn’t slide in as seamlessly as a lens mount.

Otherwise, this has been a great addition to my kit, and I’m glad I didn’t spend $150-250 on a macro lens when I can use this and get the same results.

Pros: Allow AE with DA lenses and third party lenses sharing the same mount.
Cons: MF only and they have to be modified first.

Bought a set in excellent condition on ebay for a fair price. Agree with everything said above. Just thought it might be helpful for those interested to see a photograph showing where the mod has to be made. Not difficult to do, I used a needle file, and I chose to finish mine, as can be seen, with a dab or electrically conductive paint. Hopefully goes without saying, but, just in case, be careful to clean the tube carefully before mounting on lens or body for the first time!

Given their purpose, the lack of AF is not a serious issue (IMHO).

Pros: Work with DA lenses after modification (see description), reasonable price
Cons: Fit and finish could be better

This is discontinued item and isn't easy to find. They pop up sometimes on ebay UK. I was looking specifically for tubes with A contacts to be able to use lenses without aperture ring. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that with these tubes there was no info on selected aperture and display showed f --.
However after som googling I scratched the anodized surface of the bayonnet on the tubes in the place where the seventh contact should be. This shorted this contact on camera body and allowed for faultless operation. I can now select the aperture on DA lenses and use pTTL flash with no poblems.
