Pros: | Free, active community, abundant plugin's, easy to use, Good for 99% of the things most people do with photos | Cons: | Lacks some of the more advanced features available in a professional product like PhotoShop | | I have used Paint.NET extensively over the last couple of years and have found it to be my quick and dirty "go to" app for photo editing. I have used PhotoShop CS5 extensively including college classes in photo editing and find Paint.NET will do for about 99% of the photo editing tasks I do with any regularity. The program supports layers, multiple undo-redo, and large file sizes. There is a large collection of free plugin's and tutorials linked from the Help tab in the main work window. The program is 64 bit and can make good use of a fast processor and plenty of ram that most current photo editing machines provide. There is also an active Forum community that seems to be more than willing to help out with questions. I highly recommend Paint.NET to anyone that needs something slightly less involved than PhotoShop but still wants a powerful feature rich photo editing program.
