Pros: | Works quite well. A lot of features. | Cons: | Steep learning curve. A lot of features. | | I have used Photoshop for quite a few years by now. The learning curve was very steep but by now I get along OK.
Earlier versions were so-so even if many people praised them. With CS6 the program finally was good enough for me.
The Raw conversions are good. The lens correction feature works for many lenses. There are bugs but often-times it works well.
The interface can be adjusted to your preferences. Visual ergonomics are important! For me, a light gray background is important to get pictures that look fine in print.
Martin Eveningīs text book is a bit overwhelming but used a bit now and then very useful! Just the chapter on setting up the program was worth the money and effort.
I am going to stick with CS6 for the foreseeable future. I prefer to learn this program and its quirks rather than subscribe to Creative Cloud and be subject to a rash of new features.
I bought CS6 with a student/teacher rebate so it didnīt cost more than its value.
The perfect upgrade: As when Apple introduced Snow Leopard with the famous slogan "no new features". Just a lack of bugs and quirks.

Pros: | Powerful... Powerful... Powerful. | Cons: | Very expensive, takes a lot to learn everything. | | Adobe has really done it again... I was using CS3 for the longest time, then upgraded to CS5 and about a month ago, upgraded to CS6 Extended. I'm no Photoshop expert, I have a hard time learning how to use everything, I still use it for very basic editing (it can and should be used for more) I went in on this 50% with my brother, so that helped cut the cost down for me. There really isn't anything you can't do with this program. I don't have much to say on it yet, but here are some things I particularly enjoy about it:
The colour scheme is gray and black, I think this is very useful because when you are editing photos and what not, you don't want a bunch of ambient light (that would come from the white/light gray backgrounds of previous Adobe products)
The cleanses of it... It's clean and sleek looking, and everything (for the most part of what I use) is very easy to find.
