Pros: | Universal, fast | Cons: | Poor build quality | | I was after a travel charger which would charge both NiMH AAs and lithium packs such as the D-Li90. This one seems to do all that.
Battery connections are via a pair of adjustable contacts - these can be set for just about any lithium pack contact spacing. A spring loaded sliding lid then holds the pack in place. The adjustment is a bit fiddly and the obvious low build quality of the device does not help. Once a contact is made the charger detects battery polarity and type and begins the charging process. A backlit LCD display shows the state of charge and battery type.
Charging is at up to 1A - fast. The charger automatically shuts off after 4 hours. It comes with a plug type power supply with interchangeable US/UK and Euro pin plates. A car cigar lighter adaptor is also included. The charger can also be used as a 5V power source for USB devices - both from mains and from an inserted charged lithium battery.
In practice it does seem to work - a discharged Pentax D-Li90 gets charged in about two hours. Charging of AAs is similarly fast.
What lets it down is the quite poor build quality - no real precision feel there.
