I picked up a nice K10D on the cheap last year and shortly thereafter spotted this generic battery grip for a fraction of price of an OEM BG2 unit. I've never seen or held a genuine Pentax BG2 in my hands but I do have a genuine BG3 for my K200D. Comparing the two, well let's just say this generic unit doesn't have the same robust construction, not to mention the fact that it doesn't appear to be weather sealed. That said, the unit replicates all the features of OEM unit on which it is based including doubling battery capacity, storage for a remote and extra memory card. and auxiliary shutter release for portrait mode shooting.
Besides not being weather sealed, my only real complaint about this grip is that it makes an already fairly heavy camera even heavier, which significantly reduces the amount of time I can comfortably use the camera so I tend to leave it in the bag whenever possible, which is most of the time. I realize this is a minority opinion, but for me, the added weight and bulk more than negate any other improvement in ergonomics the grip may offer.
It is also worth noting that this grip will not physically fit the Samsung GX-10 or GX20 due to differences in the shape of those cameras' bottom plates.
