Pros: | Rugged, Roomy, Well Padded, Well Designed, Gripper Strap, Hand Strap, Holds a heck of a lot of gear | Cons: | Expensive in Canada - best bought in the USA | | The F-4AF is my primary camera bag. I had eye balled this bag for years but couldn't justify $250 Cdn for it. A couple of years ago my wife, son and mother went to New York. They visited the mothership of camera stores; B&H and picked the F-4AF up for me. It cost $118 US which was roughly $140 Cdn at the time.
Once you get a Dome bag, very little compares except perhaps a Billingham. This bag goes everywhere. It gets tossed around unprotects your gear very well. My initial perceived use for this bag was to carry a K-5, FA 35, DA* 16-50, DA* 50-135, flash and accessories. It can hold all of that easily.
I have added two small dividers to this bag to stack primes. It can cold a ton of gear. I can pack this with:
- K-5II + grip
- DA 21/40/70 stack of pancakes
- A large lens (D FA 100 with 1.4 X TC or DA* 200)
- Two Cactus RF 60 Flashes (or two AF540FGZ's)
- 3 Cactus Colour Correction Diffusers
- A Cactus V6
- Rotolight RL48 interview kit (2 lights, stands & gels)
- White balance cards
- LensPen Cleaning Kit
- Remote shutter release.
- Tripod tool.
- Several ND Filters and Circular Polarizers
- Rocket Blower
- And still room to spare!
In the 80's and 90's I served as an Infantry Officer. I became very picky about weight, function and durability when it came to equipment for carrying my gear. This bag is top-shelf, military grade and worth every penny.
