Pros: Cost, Configurability
Cons: Machining

Preface:
I purchased this in order to have a lightweight travel tripod. I was looking for one less than 3.5 pounds (1.6 kg) that would pack small and support up to 11 lbs (5 kg). My heaviest setup would be a Pentax K-70 with 400mm Sigma lens, so I didn't need too much support. I also wanted to limit my expense to under $200 (including a ball head, if required)

Note: As of this review, Giottos no longer manufactures this model, but there are several online sites still selling it. Giottos makes a heavier-duty version (YTL 9384, 4.4 lbs, 17.6 lb capacity, $166 retail) and also has a carbon fiber version available (YTL 8354, 3.0 lbs, 11 lb capacity, $250 retail).

Initial impressions:
Measured weight is 3 lbs 9.6 oz (1.63 kg). There is a short center option that limits height but saves about 3 oz.
I prefer flip locks to twist locks and I like the feel and adjust-ability provided here. Three locks needed tightening out of the box but have stayed tight in the first week of light use.
The tripod is not true to vertical when fully collapsed or extended; one leg is shorter by about 1/2 inch. It is a minor issue and can be resolved by not fully extending the other two legs, but is annoying.
The fully pivoting center column can nearly eliminate the need for a head, but isn't as convenient. (Disclosure: I also purchased a Giottos MH1302-210C ball head). A ballast hook on the bottom of the center column allows for adding a counterweight when using in angled or horizontal mode. Another interesting feature of the adjustable column is that the minimum camera height can be very small (ex., camera pointed directly down).
The entire assembly collapses to a small diameter and fits inside a carry on.
I like that all three legs have foam grips.
I'm not fond of the three leg angles: 18, 48, and 80 (from vertical). I think the second should have been 30 degrees to give the best compromise of stability and height.

Field Testing:
{I will update here in a couple of weeks with photos.}
