Gordy's Wrist strap

Description:
Made of California Latigo belt leather, which comes from range toughened steer hides, my hand made camera straps are tough, flexible, and pliable, with a natural luster that only improves with age and softens with use. This is real natural cowhide that is not always uniform like plastic. If the leather is good enough to hold up your pants, it's good enough to hold up your camera!

The leather is served with .040" (1mm) diameter polyester cord that is heavy duty and waxed for durability.

All Regular length lug-mount wrist straps are US$18, the Long lug-mount wrist strap is $19, and the Extra Long wrist strap is $20. All prices include world-wide shipping.

Pros: Practical, Durable, Slim design, Looks good
Cons: Leather is a little stiff when new

I purchased a Gordy's strap for my K-5IIs in December.
I was looking for a wrist strap that was durable and not bulky for placing into a camera bag. I find it inconvenient to have to stuff a 2ft+ long neck strap into a bag with the camera.
Occasionally I use a BlackRapid shoulder strap and this little wrist strap can stay on the camera and not get in the way too much.

I would recommend getting the "long" 8 3/4" version for the extra inch of space to fit your hand through.
Also, with this length you would be able to loop the strap around the plate on most normal QR clamps when using a tripod. If the clamp unexpectedly releases, the strap is still around the ball head so your camera will not drop. Saved my gear on one occasion a few years ago.

When new the leather is a little stiff but I'm sure it will soften and become more flexible with use.

Did I mention it looks pretty good too.

Gordon requests you to email a photo of your camera with the strap attached for his gallery if you wish. Here's mine.

Pros: Functional, good looking, sturdy
Cons: Leather

Got a Gordy strap, in long and I recommend you get it or the extra long not the standard length, for my new K-01. I just didn't see using it with a neck strap and wanted the convenience I have had with a wrist strap on my Q and P&S cameras. The K-01 is a bit heavier than those cameras and has the potential to have a larger lens attached so I didn't want to skimp. Comments in threads around the forum were almost uniformly praising the Gordy's straps, so I took a chance.

Very nice strap. Thick leather that is cleanly cut and smooth. The colored wrap at one end (they have 10 different colors) on the leather (they have four choices of leather color) allows for some individualization of the strap. Since I have a Yellow K-01 I choose a Black leather and Yellow cord strap in the long length (8 3/4in). When I ordered I debated what length and then decided to split the difference and order the middle one - I am VERY glad I did. I have a little difficulty getting it on and off and am sure that if I had ordered the Regular length (7 3/4in) I would have regretted it.

The strap comes with a rubber gasket that can be used to tighten the strap once its on your wrist, thereby lowering the risk of an accident. Gordy also offers an option to buy either a leather or rubber gasket, that he calls Strap Bumpers, to place around the split-ring that attaches the strap to the lug on the camera. That gasket prevents the split-ring from dinging your camera - very nice. Strap bumpers are an additional US$1 for the O-ring Strap Bumper and US$4 for the Octagonal and Integral Strap Bumpers. He also offers Wrist Pads for an additional $13. I got a Black Long Lug Strap with Yellow wrapping and an O-ring bumper. So far they are working like a charm and look great on the camera. Good communication from them and responses to my email questions too. Nice folks.
