Pros:	Price, reduces flare, a little protection for front element
Cons:	None for me

As the SMC Pentax - DA 50mm f1.8 does not come with a lens hood as standard, I have found this accessory to be a very good piece of kit. It is reasonably priced, and being rubber, it is collapsible to save space in the camera bag pockets if required. I can highly recommend this lens hood.
