I chose this one out of many at a camera shop for it's height. I'm 5'8", and most on the market are high enough that the camera viewfinder is eye level. On rough ground or birding when you want to tilt, I ended up on my knees most of the time.

It is stiff and stable. The locking nuts are large and easy to use. The end can either be a metal point or a rubber foot, it simply screws in or out. Easy to adjust height. The camera platform is large, 2 3/8" inches with three setscrews for mounting heads.

The price is the only negative.
