Pros: | Well built, Holds K-5+Grip+70-200 | Cons: | No weather cover, no sliplock attachments, poor padding | | For $20 shipped its a nice addition, but it's certainly not worth its list price of $99!
My main reason for buying this bag was that I wanted a bag that I could carry my 70-200 f2.8 attached to the K-5iis with Grip along with another lens or two that wasn't too big. The bag performs as advertised.
The main compartment is fairly well padded, holds 3+- extra lenses with the 70-200 attached, the sling is fairly wide and it has a cross-body strap that stores out of the way but also secures the case for ease of movement, one side pocket has elastic to allow it to hold larger items, second side pocket is Velcro closed, and best of all Lowepro seems to have solved their poor bottom padding issue! Zippers are tight, interior dividers are plentiful, there is overhang on all zippers to help limit water intrusion, and the attachment point at the bottom of the case for the strap is also padded with a recess for the metal D-ring.
Even thought it holds the setup as advertised, I do have some reservations about it.
First, it has a functionless flap (similar to one on their Rezo 60) that Lowepro seems to use occasionally.
Second, there is zero padding on the front zippered pocket. That's right none! What's that all about.
Third, it has no weather cover (the functionless flap is supposed to be one.....)
Fourth, it has no Sliplock attachment points.
Fifth, the 2nd side pocket is so short (why?) that its use is pretty limited.
Sixth, the interior of the top flap is fairly poorly utilized with only a single SD card slot.
Overall, if you need a case to carry your K camera + 70-200 this will work reasonably well. The hardware D-ring is metal and the strap and back are reasonably padded. Would I pay $99 for it Is it worth $19 to me to have for those occassions when I need more storage with the 70-200 than my toploader - yes. | |
