Pros: | Small, good attachment points, easy to open | Cons: | wobbles a bit | | I got this case as a present for Christmas. I put it on my wish list because it fits up to a 70-200mm lens f/2.8 Lens and I've been doing more soccer photography of my son lately. I use the 70-200/2.8 as my primary lens but often take the 55-300 too. The case allows me to carry the 55-300 in the case with a bit of room for a battery and cloth. Like most LowePro gear it has a SlipLock paddle on the back to attach it to other LowePro gear. It's All-Weather so it has a rain cover concealed in the usual place too. Two mesh outside pockets are handy for a battery or filters (will fit my Marumi 77 CPL case). The bottom is flat which is a BIG plus IMHO.
The case has both dual zippers and a snap closure. The snap closure is helpful when you need to do things one handed because you can secure the lens inside temporarily without needing both hands. The dual zippers are connected by a padded long pull strap thereby allowing, again, the use of one hand to open both simultaneously.
The case comes with a descent (thank you LowePro for upgrading your straps lately) shoulder strap. It comes with metal hardware and is fairly long. The padded shoulder slide is also nicer than older LowePro gear and helps by allowing the weight to be better distributed and to slide the case around to the front while wearing without marking your clothing.
The case is long enough for my Tamron 70-200/2.8 with the hood reversed.
The cons for the case are, as usual, less padding on the bottom than I like, d-rings for the strap that are rather small, a wobbley feel when open, and no weather sealing on the bottom of the case. These are minor and the improvements in the straps, shoulder slides, and making the bottom flat are genuine improvements in the LowePro line recently.
If you don't have a 2 camera rig and want to have a way to swap lenses up to, but not longer than, the 70-200/2.8 then the Lens Exchange Case 200AW is for you. | |
