Pros: | Works extremely well | Cons: | Nothing | | I bought this head with the Manfrotto MK 293A3 legs.
Specs:
- Weight: 790 grams/1.73lbs.
- Load: 4kg/8.8lbs.
Features:
- 3-way axis head
- Quick release plate with security lever
- Innovative device that helps to support the camera weight on tilt axis
The head came with the handles unassembled(below), but took not time at all to set up.
The handles screw in and each come with a washer. Ease of use if you decide to unscrew them for storage and/or transport in a bag.
The head is made of "Adapto" which Manfrotto states it is caomparable to aluminium in strength, yet is lighter.
It certainly feels solid.
It incorporates a spirit level and a spring-like device which helps stablise the camera and you can feel it work especially in vertical movements.
Press down the black security lever and then pull the grey lock (pic 1).
The quick release plate will now be ready to easily remove.(pic 2).
All in all, I am pleased with this head.
It works well with the tripod.
I don't have very heavy gear, and have only tried it out with my K10D and manual 50mm and Pentax 100-300.
So far so good.
I have my eye on a Sigma 170-500, so will update this review at some time.
The 4 kg are enough for me at this moment.

Pros: | Solid build, ease of use, quick relaease with lock | Cons: | Plate sometimes takes a moment to release and secure ... | | Bonjour,
I bought this 3-way head to go with my Manfrotto "Backpack Kit" which has a 732YB tripod fitted with the small 482(K) ball head.
Since this tripod has a screw mount for the head, the 804RC2 easily fits upon it and makes a good "combo" for my needs.
Very pleased with this larger, stronger and more precise head ... no real complaints to state.
Hope that this was somewhat helpful ... Allez et bon courage, John le Frog Here are some additional photos of this head ...
