Opticron make/have made a number of adapters to attach a camera directly to their spotting scopes. The #41112 in the pics, and the slightly smaller diameter but essentially the same #41111, are designed speciifically to push fit onto, respectively, the HDF/SDL zoom eyepieces, or the HDF fixed focal length eyepiece and the DLT digiscoping eyepiece. The locking screw constricts a plastic collar to secure the fit. However in practice they are easily adapted to any eyepiece of approx 40-50mm diameter with a bit of packing and thus have the most generic utility. Pic 2 shows packing made from ~50mm diameter pipe ("miniguttering" downpipe) to fit the 41112 adapter onto a HDF 40810 (20x mag with the HR66 scope) eyepiece. The depth of the adapter is ~37.5mm so if used with shorter (in length) eyepieces than that the camera may end up being spaced a bit further away.
Pic 3 shows a Pentax K5 mounted on the scope. No vignetting with the HDF 40810 eyepiece - full coverage of the APSC sensor - pic 4. And pic 5 shows the adapter being used with the adaptall 02F eyepiece adapter mounted on a SP 55BB 500mm mirror lens.
The adapters require a suitable t-mount to attach the camera.
