Pros: Ergonimics
Cons: Anchor connector fail

I bought the Peak Design Clutch and Slide combo pack from B&H, to use on my K-1 with battery grip. The ergonomics of both products are great. I really like the Clutch, it fits my hands, and doesn't get in the way and helps me keep a firm grip on my K-1 with battery grip and DFA 24-70 lens or DFA 150-450 lens. The Slide is a nice product too, and can be used along with the Clutch. I like the way the camera hangs, doesn't bounce when I walk.

Now the bad part. There is a weak link built into the Peak Design system - the anchor connectors. Though they're supposedly made from super strong fibers and are supposed to last, they don't. Less than 30 day after purchase I found myself staring down at the ground at my brand new and now significantly damaged K-1. Needless to say, I cannot endorse this product, no matter how good the ergonomics. In almost 40 years of photography, strap failure has never been an issue ever.

Pros: Secure, easily accessed, simple, elegant design, easily attached/detached/adjusted, weatherproof
Cons: Attaches via a quick-release plate, as others do; cost

I have been on the hunt for a better hand strap for what seems like forever. I like the secure feel in my hand, especially when my camera isn't attached to me via a neck or other strap. I have several brands, ranging fom a $6 piece of junk (just had to try it) to the expensive-ish Cotton Carrier that I like, but their attachment design is bulky and it's really best used when carrying bigger gear on their system.

The Peak Design Clutch is simple and elegant in its engineering. It's very light. It's weatherproof. The hand slides easily but firmly into position due to their special fabric. The length adjusts quickly and easily. It attaches and detaches from the camera in seconds, using their Anchor Link system, which relies on sturdy little button links (see photos below) that snap into holders. The link system is shared with their Slide strap (see my separate review) and attaches on the bottom of the camera to an Arca-type quick release plate. I was concerned about the button links getting in the way of the arca clamp but, except for having to be a bit more careful in placement, it works just fine (see photo below).

I wish someone made a really good hand strap that attached to a camera via... not-a-plate. But then somone would have to make a camera with actual bottom attachment points that acknowledged the development of straps beyond neck-hangers (hello, Pentax?). Until that day comes, I'm enjoying the Clutch's simple and highly usable design. I like that it does what it's supposed to do and does it well.

See the Peak Design website for lots more information and some good videos.
