It works in PTTL.
Perfect exposure and white balance.
I set the camera on multiple white balance.

Bought it from a forum member and it works like a charm. Four AA are clearly an advantage in comparison to the newer AF201FG, which allows angle adjustment, and thus bounce, but doesn't recycle as fast. Works really well if you want a no brainer TTL flash or having the option on a non pop/up flash camera. I can't speak for its compatibility on newer cameras, though. From my understanding PTTL protocol has changed in the last four or five years. Please message me if you can confirm/deny its compatibility.

There's a lot this little flash doesn't do, but what it does, it does a great job of.
I love the simple controls. I love the size. Particularly when I don't want to look like a photog with a giant kit.
In short, I'm a fan, On short trips, this often makes it into my bag along with a wireless trigger.
I've seen quite a few of these dirt cheap used online.
If you don't need a lot of flash power, or advanced features and need a small flash, this is the one to get.

This is a great walk around flash, or something small to keep in your bag.
The 'auto-ness' can be worked with by manipulating camera settings easy enough.
A good 'my first flash' if nothing else.

I like this flash because it simply and quickly multiplies the versatility of my K200D. I especially like the quick-mount locking foot. All my previous flash units have had tightening-screws rather than the cam-action mount.
The controls on the flash are limited. While there are a few manual adjustments - I make almost all my adjustments through the camera settings - which is for me the whole point of having a totally integrated flash.
The build quality is good - better than the third party flashes I've seen. It even comes with a decent pouch/case bundled in the box. The four AA batteries recycle the flash quite quickly (if they're fresh) without putting drain on the camera's internal batteries.
The added flash height will get it above most lens hoods (any that I have, at least) and I have fun pulling out the built-in diffuser for wide-angle use. (Although I can't say the effect is very obvious.)
I got it "used' for a lot less than the normal new price ... although it may have been more than the $50 my memory is telling me. (That's why I didn't put an actual price in the review price post.)
I suppose on an absolute scale, my "8" is high ... but, as a handy, small, light, useful and competent accessory, this meets all my needs. I am intending to get the necessary shoe adapters and wires to use this for off-camera macro work, and at that distance, high-power flashes are overkill. This is perfect.

In Canada at least, this flash used to sell for $250, I think I paid $100 for it on final clearance.
I need a flash for macro shooting with a reversed lens, and this one has worked quite well for a few weeks. I wish it recycled faster, I wish I could tilt the head, and I wish the battery compartment door didn't fall off as often as it has been, but all-in-all it has been a good purchase.
I have not had to change batteries, and I am sure I have fired the flash more then 300 times, so the estimated 400 photos per set of batteries is turning out to be fairly accurate.
Next year I will probably buy a stronger flash for long range wildlife photos. Better Beamers are not made for this specific flash as far as I know.
All in all a good purchase. I will use it until the day it dies.

Needed to get a Robo Flash for a shoot. I've never been fond of Auto Flashes, always been a Manual shooter.
Built well, quick recharge.
Mounted it is lower than 360/540 sizes. A little red eye.
A very Bright Flash. Even set at -1 comp I had to dial in some negative comp in the Camera body so I didn't 'Blind' folks.
It did it's job although compared to my Manual flash, just barely.
Might work better as a fill flash outdoors.

originally got this flash as part of the K-50 kit bundle I got entering the fine world of Pentax in Oct/Nov 2014...I did not know anything about flash other than if it's not light enough throw it on the camera and viola got a picture! it did the trick much better than the pop up flash and saved on camera battery power. when I had gotten interested in macro work throw on the flash and fire away......it served me well, did the job it was supposed to do provide direct flash with limitations in comparison to more expensive units..however not bad considering it was basically thrown in the bundle I got more or less 'free' so to speak....
then enter the af360fgz the poor af200fg went into it's pouch and remained for a long time.....after acquiring a few cactus v6 units decided to bust out the old af200fg and see what happens....lo & behold the af200fg is responsive to power changes and now can be used off camera with excellent control.....I was so thrilled about this that I bought a 2nd af200fg so I would have a pair to use with some cheap umbrella stands that I have....the compact size on the somewhat 'flimsy' stands gave me a bit more confidence in stability versus having a af360fgz mounted on them...if they took a tumble I would only be out the af200fg flash instead of a more expensive af360fgz.....although it is unlikely the af200fg would sustain any damage seems rigid enough to play baseball with....
the af200fg has a renewed life with me as a controlled off camera flash.....the compactness of it makes it great to throw light on a back drop, highlight hair, blow up umbrellas on 'flimsy' stands and place about anywhere on a foot stand without much care or worry...it has enough reveal at the flash head to hold cheap colored gels in place with a rubberband…but not enough reveal to be mounted effectively in a bowen s-type bracket
I can recommend this flash as a simple cheap direct p-ttl on camera flash and controllable off camera use with cactus v6 but of course there are better alternatives
