I got one for free. Reason being, it's practically useless if there's an alternative. I on the other hand like cheap old crap, so naturally I put this to good use.
The problems are too numerous to list, the biggest nuisance being the recharge time. There's no way you'll shoot very fast. You can literally watch your beard grow as this recharges itself. It's best to have 3 or 4 sets of rechargeable batteries and circulate them pretty fast.
On the bright side it fits nicely with ugly old lenses and basically works just as well as anything, if only you take the trouble to figuring it out. The manual that came with it is useless. In fact, there is no manual in existence, but rather a page, which is a print of a scan of a copy of a copy of a copy of a xerox of a copy. What you're looking at is trial and error. Luckily it lacks any advanced capability, so there's really not much to try and it's basically figured out as you take a look at it.
Works as expected with the el cheapo optical trigger I ordered from China for like $1 - s&h included, a small $10 softbox, while the whole assembly being fixed on a scavenged $10-as-new aluminum/plastic tripod. Then I shoot with my ugliest, scratched and dented lens, the Tamron 105/2.5. There's a nice dent on the 105's filter thread that won't actually prevent filters from being used, but makes it look like it's seen a war or something. They all deserve each other. And the pics look just fine, and people think I have some really nice gear. The fun in photography is in trying to do it with cheap crap without anyone being able to tell. And no one will ever know. Bwhahahah--wait, I probably shouldn't have said that.
A cautious '4' and recommended - given that it's free, and you like doing things the hard way, like I do.
If you're on the clock, it's a solid '1' and not recommended.

No bad at all considering they can be picked up on ebay so cheaply...
In Program mode on the K-x it exposes very well as long as your ISO's match...
Pretty old unit... As such very simple to work out...
No swivel... So not too hot in portrait orientation...
If you don't think you'll use flash that much and can't justify the price of a fancy new metz... £25.00 seems like a bagain... And quite good fun...
Only fires at FULL POWER in manual
