Pros: | Build quality, compatibility, contact cover slot. | Cons: | | | Works smoothly, as intended, including half-press (for waking the camera up, and activating AE and AF) and a lock for Bulb mode/long exposures. I use it on the Z-1p and 645N. It has a neat slot at the back for holding the contact cover of the camera while in use.

Pros: | Far better than a cable shutter release | Cons: | Does not operate AF on a Pentax 645 N | | Having a long cable is a nice feature. Don't know why AF won't work on a 645N but that really isn't a big deal. I do like the bulb mode better h\than other shutter releases I've used. Simply lock it then press the button and it will remain locked until the lock is released. So far a reliable piece of gear.

Pros: | Easy to use. Slot for storing plastic tab. | Cons: | Only works on some Pentax cameras. | | The Pentax "Cable Release F" was released in conjunction with the new "F" series auto-focus cameras & lenses in 1987.
It's works with the above mentioned "SF" cameras, as well as the Z/PZ, and some MZ/ZX series film bodies. (Not the MZ-S or MZ-6/ZX-L)
I bought the cable release for use on my SF1n & Z-1p cameras. It works well and reminds me of my remote control for my Kodak Carousel slide projector. I also like the small slot for storing the cameras plastic tab.
The only negative is this cable release only works on some Pentax cameras.
Overall I'm happy with it.

Pros: | port cover holder | Cons: | you have to press the button a long way | | I used this cable switch with my MZ-50 for several years. As far as I know it's the only remote shutter release made for this camera.
The good:
The cable seems long enough for most things you do.
It is solidly built. The cable is thick enough to withstand some abuse. The button feels quality as well (but see comments below).
I really like the little slot where you can put the camera's port cover for storage so you don't lose it. The cover fits in solidly and doesn't feel like it will fall out.
The bad:
Since I couldn't find a wireless switch for the MZ-50, some people may prefer a longer cable.
The switch is too small to fit comfortably and ergonomically in my hand, but too big to be very compact. It's just in the middle, which is a bit annoying.
You probably need two hands to engage the shutter lock slider - one to hold down the shutter release and the other to slide the lock across.
The button itself is quite large and moves around a bit in the housing (feels loose). It does not feel like it's going to break though.
There is quite a bit of travel in the first (AF) stage of the trigger - i.e. you have to push it down a long way before you get to the second (shutter release) stage. However, there is a very distinct stop when you get to the second stage. I just found it annoying having to press the button down so far. When you need to refocus, you need to take your finger / thumb off and put it on again, and it just takes too long because you have to move your thumb so much!
Conclusion:
A very handy piece of equipment, and it does the job.
