Pros: | Works well. | Cons: | None | | Works very well in conjunction with F5PL extension cable and Off-Camera Shoe Adapter F.
I've now frequently used this set-up to mount a Pentax AF-360FGZ/ AF540FGZ11 or Metz 48 AF-1 on a lightweight lighting stand for impromtu location studio use or outdoor fill-in.

Pros: | Build quality, compatibility. | Cons: | | | I use it in combination with hot shoe adapter FG and F5P extension cord on a bracket to change quickly from portrait to landscape orientation in a breeze. It's made of quality plastic and fits snugly and secure on Pentax gear and on my bracket's cold shoe.

Pros: | Well built, allows off camera flash with O-GPS1 | Cons: | | | Glad I had the foresight to get all the Pentax flash shoe accessories several years ago. I just acquired the O-GPS1 module, and this adapter allows you to use it in conjunction with an off camera flash, despite the user manual claiming that you can't. Good for forensic photography when location data is required.
This unit produces strange results if used as an off camera adapter, that is, as a substitute for the Off Camera Adapter F. It seems to work OK with my Pentax 360FGZ, but it confuses my Yongnuo YN585EX if used that way - the Yongnuo fires metering flashes when connected off camera with the Hot Shoe Adapter F and the dedicated cord... The Yongnuo works fine with the Off Camera Adapter F connected exaclty the same way, so it must be the pass through of the Hot Shoe Adapter F messing it up. The Yongnuo also works fine in P-TTL mode connected to the Hot Shoe Adapter F mounted on the camera hot shoe. Moral of the story? Use the flash adapters exactly as intended and you won't have a problem, even with non-Pentax flashes.

Pros: | Works with my AF400T and my K-3II | Cons: | agree with everything else Steve said' | | Not only does the AF400T [4P] sync with this 5P pass thru [on auto or manual, no TTL] but I also can use my AF360FGZ and the AF400T together, both set on manual modes. This is the tricky part, had to play around with AF360 settings to get both flashes to fire in sync,

Pros: | Made in Japan, good craftmanship | Cons: | | | I recently purchased this hot shoe adapter off ebay and although have not yet had a chance to use it, it looks sturdy and made with good workmanship. I intend to hook it up with the Off camera hot shoe and sync cord F .

Pros: | Works, relatively low profile | Cons: | Build, fit, no shoe lock, list price | | Description
This accessory works as a pass-through hot shoe adapter with 5P cable fitting to allow attachment of a 5P cable (three sizes: short (1m), medium (2m), long (3m)) for remote wired device operation while retaining support for on-camera devices. Construction is plastic body with plastic foot, metal hot shoe and metal 5P fitting. A plastic cap is supplied for the 5P fitting. Supports all Pentax flash types supported by the host hot shoe.
27mm x 32mm x 28mm (L x W x H, w/cable cap fitted) Pros:- Works
- Relative compact
- Universal Pentax flash/hot shoe support
Cons:- Plastic build, including foot
- No locking provision for foot
- High list price ($64.95 USD, 26 Feb '18)
Notes:- Interferes with built in flash on most Pentax bodies
- Works as a true pass-through. As a result it does not provide isolation from high-trigger voltage. There may also be a hazard to other attached devices if mounted to a conductive metal cold shoe.
- Not compatible with 4P Sync Cord models
In Use
When mounted to some cameras with some users, the rear "bump" may make it hard to put one's eye to the viewfinder. That is a small matter, but may be important if being used with some vintage cameras where the hot shoe may be located further to the rear.
Pass-through connectivity works as expected as does the 5P cable connection. I tested on my Pentax KX (std hot shoe), Super Program (analog TTL), and K-3 (digital P-TTL), and dedication/feature support was the same as with a direct mount to the hot shoe on all three cameras. That being said, fit of the plastic foot is such that several degrees of twist movement is possible as is a fair amount of forward-back "rocking" play on all three bodies. Proper alignment of the contacts could be compromised if the adapter is askew.
Build is typical for hot shoe accessories meaning construction and materials similar to a generic hot shoe/pc port adapter at a price point below $15. By comparison, Vello makes a dedicated pass-through i-TTL (Nikon) adapter with PC for less than half the list price of the Hot Shoe Adapter F and provides a metal foot with locking mechanism on their unit. Sadly, the Pentax adapter has no tightening wheel or foot lock provision despite such being the norm for most accessory hot shoe adapters even at the lowest price point. A prominent exception is the Wein Safe-Sync. Despite an intentionally tight fit, reviews of that device also note the lack of a lock and subsequent wobble.
Due to the loose fit on-camera and lack of a lock, I would have serious reservations about using the Hot Shoe Adapter F with the Sync Cord F 5P (L) (three meters (9') of heavy cable) or in situations where the adapter or attached flash or cable might be subjected to stress. My take is that it is not robust enough for professional use and that care should be taken before using the hotshoe with other than a lightweight flash.
