Pros: | Get the aftermarket K-AC128 instead | Cons: | Pentax never released the original | | read THIS REVIEW
This after-market K-AC128 AC Adapter works exactly the same way.
I gave it 10 points to balance out the 1 point because this other version is worth its $ 10
and works

Pros: | Unknown | Cons: | Expensive and impossible to find | | I feel a little silly posting a review of this item without having used it. However, the lack of possibility of using this item is what I am reviewing. I have yet to find this item available for purchase. I contacted Pentax directly about the issue, and the response is copied below. Quote: Thank you for contacting Pentax.
Due to the low demand for the K-AC109 AC adapter (#39052) our retail partner website, www.pentaxwebstore.com, does not stock this item. The adapter is in fact on back order from the manufacturer but you may be able to order it from us (or from one of the PENTAX online dealers if you try websearching for it) by calling the technical support center number below but we would have no way of knowing when it would be received from the manufacturer overseas. Incidentally, the AC adapter will not charge the battery in the camera and is not required for downloading your pictures.
If you are in need of further assistance, please respond to this email or call our technical support center at 800-877-0155.
Sincerely,
Randall S.
Pentax Imaging Technical Support I have owned point-and-shoot cameras with direct plug-in capability. These same cameras included the AC adapter with the original purchase, incidentally. Not only does Pentax require the AC cord to be purchased separately; they also require a proprietary battery-compartment-shaped adapter (included in the kit reviewed here). Future models would be greatly improved by...
(a) A direct AC plug-in port to the body.
(b) Battery charging via (a) without removal of the battery (would avoid constant opening to dust, as well!)
(c) Including the AC adapter with the body purchase.
And, of course, if (c) is not possible, please make it less than $80 and produce some!
