Pros: | Does what it's supposed to do | Cons: | Mine shows a strong pincushion distortion and blur on all edges | | I got mine with a second-hand body so I don't know how much I paid for it... but as I wrote in my negative comments: I don't like it, and I don't use it because it distorts the image so much that it's distracting. I have my K-5 setup with some degree of eyesight correction, maybe that's the reason.

Pros: | Works as intended, fits securely | Cons: | Price | | Acquired this eyecup to help with manual focus vintage lenses on my solenoid crippled K-50. Live View magnification provides more precision, but it's awkward and uses too much power. I'd rate the O-ME53 a 9 if it were priced around half what I paid for it from B&H, but it's way too expensive for what it is.

Pros: | Clear, easy to install, improves manual focusing accuracy | Cons: | Cost | | It does what it aims to. Not a huge difference, but it still improves the view through the viewfinder in my K-3 (Mk 1) enough to be easily noticeable. For the price, I wish it had a tad more magnification, but it still is a worthwhile upgrade if you use the viewfinder as much as I do for manual focusing.

Pros: | Nice and clear | Cons: | None really | | It's a pricey piece of equipment but for my eyes it worked a little better than what came on my K-50.
It's also nice that adjusting the diopter is easier now too, not that it gets adjusted at all but if I needed to, it's easier.
I find it a bit more comfortable than the original eyecup that came with the camera.

Pros: | Works as expected | Cons: | none | | This piece has been with me ever since I can remember (The K10D, K20D, K7, K5, K3 and now with my K1-II), working perfectly well with all those great cameras. No, I do not wear glasses, but when I did (I have been surgically operated) it made no trouble at all. I used to work photographing life performance ballet pictures and it was a great help since I did not work with auto-focus due to the loss of speed. Get used to it. It works admirably well.

Pros: | Easy to use, build quality. | Cons: | Cost | | Works very well with manual lenses and doesn't block out any part of the viewfinder (it probably would if it had higher magnification, but you get one or the other). Like other Pentax eyecups, it's silicone, rather than rubber, which is tougher, is soft to the touch and feels great to use. Kind of like a 645 with some clearance to the body.
Fits my K-5 and MZ-S perfectly.

Pros: | Improves manual focus accuracy, better eyecup | Cons: | Somewhat easy to bump out of position, Cost | | Absolute must have if you use manual focus much of the time. The small amount of additional magnification really does make a pronounced difference in nailing focus. Blocks very little of the screen. A bonus, it gets my nose away from the rear screen. I’ve purchased three so far, one for each of the active Pentax DSLRs in my kit.
The only negatives I have found are the cost is a bit much for what it is, but there are no less expensive alternatives. Also, the eyepiece sticks out just enough to catch on camera bag inserts. The eyepiece either gets partially dislodged or keeps the camera from going into its slot in the bag. Both are minor annoyances.

Pros: | Helps manual focusing on AF cameras. | Cons: | Does not block light very well from the sides. | | I bought the O-ME53 eyecup for my Pentax Z-1P Autofocus film camera.
It solved two issues that I was having:
1) My Z-1P's OEM eyecup broke into three pieces when I removed it, as the hard rubber dried up due to old age. So I needed a replacement eyecup.
2) The standard focusing screen for my AF Z-1P is not very good for manual focusing, when compared to the screens on my Pentax manual focus film bodies. So I was looking for some sort of focusing aid for my Z-1P.
The O-ME53 eyecup solves both issues and fits nicely on the Z-1P. This eyecup does not block the viewfinder metering info on the Z-1P, so that's a big bonus. The extra magnification also helps a lot when doing any closeup/critical manual focusing.
The only cons I found were the O-ME53 eyecup does not block light from the sides as well as the older round rubber eyecups from the SP to P Series manual focus film bodies. I also have to move the O-ME53 up slightly to open/close the Z-1P's film door.
Overall I'm very happy with this Pentax accessory.
I bought my Pentax O-ME53 eyecup new from a local camera store and it cost $49.99 CDN. Update November, 2020:
I'm also using this eyecup on my SF1n, MZ-S & *ist auto-focus film cameras and it works great on those bodies as well.

Pros: | improved manual focusing accuracy | Cons: | none | | I rate this as a 10 due to the fact that it's a really consistent tool IMHO. - It improves the already good k5 viewfinder
- in my case, solved a little problem with the diopter adjustment (I had difficulties to find -0- compensation setting and clearly see without the OME53) .
- Perhaps higher magnification ratios would effect the complete view of the scene: that's not the case of the OME53.
- Is also more comfortable than the original K5 eyecup.
Buy one!
Best regards. Matteo

Pros: | good quality | Cons: | not much magnification, no diopter adjustment | | I thought I would try one of these and make the comparison with my Tenpa 1.36x when I saw a good offer for new one. My first impressions were favourable, it's a good optical item. Negligible vignetting. Magnification a definite assist, but I get more benefit from the 1.36x of my Tenpa.
However because my myopia requires more than the -2.5 correction built in to the camera. the 1.2x gain is negated by the loss of additional diopter correction and consequently slightly soft (to my eyes) image in the VF. So its back to the -3 diopter correction lens, or the tenpa which has -1 diopter as an inherent part of its optics.

Pros: | Easier manual focussing. | Cons: | Some vignetting, edges of frame out of focus. | | It's useful but a little disappointing compared to what I was expecting. I notice that on my current camera (KR) only the centre of the magnified view is in focus, so I have to move my eye around to check anything but the centre. With care it does make manual focussing just a bit easier. As the viewfinder is bigger it's also dimmer, because the same amount of light is now spread over a wider area. This means on night shoots you may find you need to remove it, depending upon precisely what you are doing.

Pros: | Helpul, but... | Cons: | Inconvenient if you wear glasses | | I like the additional magnification, but I took it off as I wear glasses and can't see the whole viewfinder at once because of that. It becomes easy to misjudge your framing. I wish that there was some accommodation for glasses wearers. If so, I would gladly use this.

Pros: | Comfortable, stays on, love the larger view | Cons: | None (unless you wear glasses!) | | I am so glad I purchased one of these. I haven't removed it from my K7 and now K5 since I purchased it. Slightly larger viewfinder size with no real draw backs for me. I can see the entire frame, including the info below the screen, and have the added benefit of some extra nose clearance from the LCD screen. The diopter control remains on the camera itself so that doesn't change on you when you put this on. According to DPreview of the K5, when they adjust the viewfinder magnification number to a full frame equivalent, it comes to a 0.61x viewfinder. If I look up the Spotmatic F stat, it appears to be a 0.88x. Now the K5 0.61x with the O-ME53 magnifyer of 1.2x, should be roughly equivalent to a 0.73x.
Because if it is, that would put the K7/K5 with O-ME53 right in between the D800 and Canon 1DX mk ii which are 0.7x and 0.76x respectfully.
I took a comparison photo of the viewfinders for those of you who want to see the difference before you buy: | |

Pros: | Fair magnification of the viewfinder, the entire field is still visible. | Cons: | None | | The must have accessory to magnify the image in the viewfinder, allows to check for a precise focusing
