PENTAX Manual Extension Tube Set K
supersize

Description:
Set of 9.5mm, 19mm, and 28.5mm extension tubes in PENTAX K-mount. Comes with a leather case.

This set has no coupling for the aperture stop down lever. No matter the lens/camera combination, metering and frame exposure must be done after manually stopping the lens down.

These tubes are not suited for lenses without an aperture ring since such lenses cannot be stopped down manually. Such lenses will remain at their largest aperture during exposure.

Lenses with an "A" setting must be used off the "A" setting since these tubes have no lens information contacts.

Focusing is to be done manually, also with autofocus lenses.

Pros: Solidly Built, Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin
Cons: Fully Manual

Beautifully made and comes in a very nice leather case. I paid £65 in Edinburgh for it which works out at ~$100. Personally I find the fact that they are fully manual a pleasure, I feel you get far more satisfaction out of nailing a good picture!

Although I've list fully manual as a con you know that buying it so it's not something you can really complain about in my opinion, more there as a note!

Pros: Well made and compact
Cons: No levers or A contacts

These match the k lenses and are well made. The don't have the aperture levers so won't work with the K bodies such as the K2 with open aperture, nor do the have A contacts. The can be used on the dSLR bodies easily with use of the green button. To date, no Pentax tube has had A contacts. I would rate the auto k tubes 1 point higher because of the lever.

Pros: More reliable than the “Auto” versions.
Cons: Does not maintain the lenses Automatic Diaphragm.

I bought this manual extension tube set for my K85/2.2 Soft lens, so I can do “soft focus” close-up work.

The manual extension tube set works well but does not maintain the full aperture metering mechanism of the attached lens, so you have you use stop-down metering. The K85/2.2 Soft lens has a manual diaphragm, so this is not an issue for me.

The manual tube set is a simpler design and is more reliable than the “Auto” versions.

The price is for a mint set with case and manual.

Pros: Well built
Cons: No automation

These work well for what they are but offer no automation. At smaller apertures and/or high magnifications expect a very dim viewfinder, and best results will likely be obtained with a tripod and some trial and error.
