Pros: | Possibly better than no hood, so long as one isn't in a hurry to install it before the "fleeting moment" passes. | Cons: | Most attempts to install or remove the hood will lead to detachment from its threaded mounting ring; leaving it on a lens may work on a shelf, but not in a camera bag, with or without using a sock type protector. | | Also fits the 645 A 150/3.5 58-mm thread, but may not provide much shielding to the lens' narrower field of view. I have only used it (rarely) with my 645 FA 75/2.8. Would you recommend this item? The correct answer here for me is "Neutral" or "Yes and No." Buying one just to have one may not be necessary, although that may depend on one's lens usage. It is susceptible to detachment of the bellows from the mounting ring whenever the hood is bumped slightly.
I find it best for traveling to have it assembled with bellows collapsed but off the lens. To use, expand the bellows while holding the ring in place and mount the hood assembly carefully to the lens or lens filter. When done, unscrew from the lens and accept that the rubber bellows may detach from the ring. Reassembly is easiest with the hood dismounted from the lens.
There are rubber to metal cements that might be brought to bear to make handling more convenient, but I haven't experimented with them.
