Pros: | Indestructible, accurate | Cons: | Funky battery contacts | | I've owned a L-318B for over thirty years. It still works perfectly. It was essential kit in the film era, and I bought the 5 degree reflected light attachment for it, which also works like new. The Pentax spot meters were nice, but stupid expensive, and incident meters were more useful for me back then. The old 318 doesn't get much use anymore, as it's been superseded by a flash capable L-358, but the new meter doesn't have the spot metering capability of its older sibling without a very expensive accessory finder. Occasionally, it doesn't start up when the switch is activated - sometimes flicking it on/off brings it to life. If not, pulling the battery cover off and giving the AA a partial rotation always does the trick.
