The Sigma EM 140 DG Ring Flash is a wonderful tool on my K-3. It has many capabilities that put it far beyond a Ring Light ( LED's ). It has 2 half flash rings - left and right - which can be used together, or independently. When used independently, -3 to +1 power output in P-TTL is available. Using only 1 tube gives a " 3D " feel to the image as the light is hitting the subject a little from the side. When used together, ( also in P-TTL ) the user has the ability to have different light output from each side, or the same light power from both sides, being able to be adjusted from -3 to +1 stops on the unit itself. Combined with the in-camera flash output, it makes this a very versatile flash. It is also wireless and HSS capable. There are a series of adapter rings that fit the front lens filter threads to mount the Ring Flash unit. They range in size from 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm and 77mm. When bought new, the unit comes with the 55mm and the 62mm adapters as these are the standard Sigma macro lens thread size. I bought mine secondhand, and it only had the 58mm adapter ring with it. In order for me to use my Pentax 100mm 2.8 macro WR ( 49mm thread ) it was a simple matter to get a 49mm to 58mm step-up ring. The build quality is very good. I can highly recommend this Sigma flash unit for Pentax users.

I've tried it on a K-5, and a kiron 105mm lens (not that the lens matters)
Most of the time I use 2 flashes on remotes in an O bracket on my camera in manual mode so I have some experience with macro flashes.
the good- the manual mode is great, you can change the exposure from 1 -> 1/64 for each flash. This gives the posibility to have some shadow left in the shot.
- in pttl you can give more power to one of the flashes going from 8-1 to 1-8. It works great and gives the same effect as with manual mode.
- the instruction manual and operation is almost (2 flashes) identical to the 500DG super I've got. So if you already have a sigma 500 this will be easy to start using it.
- the flash recycles fast, but not fast enough for high speed shooting.
the bad
- there is a help light, to get something in focus with low light, only that light is to week to be really useful.
the why these are not good or bad but just things I don't understand.- why cant they put more adapter rings in it, 55&58 and I don't have any lens with that diameter. (had to get an adapter from a friend to test it)
- why do you add power to the left or right flashlight in PTTL mode and lower the power to the left or right when in manual mode.
As an only manual flash this would get a 10 from me, but the pttl makes it a 9. I'm sorry to say but pttl never worked for me (see below). Somehow manual flashes are more my cup of tee.
UPDATE 23/09/2011
I just changed my macro lens that I've used for the last 7 years to a sigma macro lens 105mm f2.8 and to my surprise the "pttl exposure overexposes 4 stops" that I mentioned as a con, doesn't exists anymore. It still isn't perfect but not more than 1EV what is easily corrected.
