Pros: | Great for heavy cameras/lenses, much better than a neck strap! | Cons: | Not ideal for all situations | | I needed a better strap than the plain Pentax provided one to support my K10D + grip and 300mm f/4.
The strap connects to the tripod mount of the camera or lens. I use it over my left shoulder with the camera resting on my right hip/buttock. It's extremely comfortable and the built in elastic shock absorber does a great job of absorbing the bounce of the heavy camera as I walk around.
The camera rests very naturally and sits right along my body when using the strap. It's very easy to grab the camera and bring to eye level for a shot. Much better than having it hang from my neck or trying to grab it out of a bag.
The downsides: You could carry a bag on the other shoulder, but this seems to work best if I'm only carrying the camera. That means no lugging around tons of equipment. Today, for instance, I hung my extra lens on my belt in an accessory case. Since I have a grip, I already have an extra battery and memory card in the camera. I put a lens cloth in my pocket and I was all set! It was kind of nice to be unburdened of my full camera bag.
Obviously if you need to use a tripod then this strap won't work well for you. Also if you do need to carry a backpack or bag then this may get in the way too. But it's great for any sort of walkaround photography with limited gear.
